Mae’r asesiadau’n rhoi adborth ar sgiliau darllen a rhifedd dysgwyr fel y gall dysgwyr, eu hathrawon a’u rieni/gofalwyr ddeall y cynnydd y maen nhw’n ei wneud ar eu taith ddysgu. Mae gwybodaeth o’r asesiadau yn helpu’r athrawon i gynllunio’r camau nesaf ac yn helpu dysgwyr i wneud cynnydd.

Mae Asesiadau personol darllen a rhifedd yn cael eu gwneud ar-lein gan ddisgyblion yn mlynyddoedd 2 i 9 mewn ysgolion a gynhelir yng Nghymru ac maent yn statudol.  Gellir eu defnyddio ochr yn ochr ag ystod o ddulliau asesu i ategu deall a datblygu sgiliau darllen a rhifedd sy’n orfodol yn y Cwricwlwm i Gymru.

• Mae'r asesiadau personol yn addasol, sy'n golygu y caiff y cwestiynau eu dewis ar sail ymateb dysgwr i'r cwestiynau blaenorol. Mae hyn yn cynnig profiad asesu sydd wedi'i deilwra ar gyfer pob dysgwr a bydd yn helpu pob dysgwr i ddatblygu eu sgiliau drwy ddeall yr hyn y gallant ei wneud, yr hyn efallai y mae angen iddynt ei wella, a’r camau nesaf posibl
• Mae'n ofynnol i ddysgwyr sefyll pob asesiad unwaith yn ystod y flwyddyn academaidd. Gall ysgolion hefyd ddefnyddio'r asesiadau unwaith yn rhagor yn ystod y flwyddyn academaidd.
• Mae'r asesiadau yn rhoi gwybodaeth i ysgolion am sgiliau dysgwyr unigol, grwpiau a dosbarthiadau cyfan.
• Nid oes unrhyw 'gyfnod asesu' ar gyfer asesiadau personol; mae amseru yn ôl disgresiwn yr ysgol.
• Gall y dysgwyr sefyll yr asesiadau personol naill ai mewn grwpiau bach neu grwpiau mawr, yn dibynnu ar ddewisiadau a chyfleusterau'r ysgol, ac nid oes angen nifer fawr o ddyfeisiau ar ysgolion.

Personalised assessments provide feedback on learners’ reading and numeracy skills so that learners, their teachers and their parents and carers can understand where they are in their learning journey. The information from the assessments helps teachers to plan next steps and to support learners to make progress.

Personalised assessments in reading and numeracy are taken online by learners in years 2 to 9 in maintained schools in Wales and are statutory. They can be used alongside a range of assessment approaches to support the understanding and development of reading and numeracy skills which are mandatory within Curriculum for Wales.

• Personalised assessments are adaptive, meaning that questions are selected based on the responses to previous questions. This provides a tailored assessment experience for each learner and will help all learners develop their skills through understanding what they can do, the things they may need to work on, and what their next steps might be.
• Learners are required to take each assessment once during the academic year. Schools also have the option to use the assessments once more during the academic year.
• The assessments provide schools with information on the skills of individual learners, groups and whole classes.
• There is no ‘assessment window’ for personalised assessments; timing is at the school’s discretion.
• Learners can take the personalised assessments in small or large groups, depending on the school’s preferences and facilities, and schools do not need a large number of devices.
